Getting Started

Whether you’re just warming up to the idea or you’ve been cooling down with it for years, here are some common questions we receive about cold plunge therapy.

What is cold water immersion? Why is it called a cold plunge?

There are a few different names for the modern day ice bath, but as times change so do terms and phrases. The origin of ice bathing and cold water therapy has historical roots dating back to Ancient Egypt and Greece. Ice baths were widely recognized for their benefits in medical treatments and restoring balance in the body. For over 20 years now ice baths have been a staple in sports medicine. The term cold plunge is really just a modernized term as cold immersion tubs and water chillers have become more common and research has found additional benefits of the ancient tradition. However, it wasn’t until our line of products launched that they actually became affordable. Many competitors charge nearly double for the exact same product!

Is Cold Plunge Therapy safe for everyone?

The short answer is no, and we highly recommend you speak with your doctor if you have any health concerns. In fact, experts suggest anyone just starting with cold water immersion begin at a higher temperature to see how your body responds and gradually lower the temperature. Those with known cardiac conditions, diabetes or older age should not cold plunge without speaking to their specialist and we always advise to have a family member or friend nearby as an extra precaution.

What are the benefits of cold plunge therapy?

Cold plunge therapy offers a wide range of benefits. It can help reduce muscle soreness and speed up recovery after intense physical activity or workouts. The cold water can also stimulate the release of endorphins, providing a natural mood boost. Additionally, cold plunge therapy has been shown to improve immune function, enhance mental clarity, and even contribute to weight loss.

What equipment do I need to get started with cold plunge therapy?

To get started with cold plunge therapy, you will need a cold plunge tub, a water chiller, and some accessories. Our site offers a range of high-quality tubs, efficient water chillers, and accessories such as steps, covers, and thermometers. These products are specifically designed to enhance your cold plunge experience and ensure optimal results. Experience the invigorating benefits of cold plunge therapy with our top-notch tubs, water chillers, and accessories. Start your journey towards improved well-being today!

How Long Should a Cold Water Immersion Session Last?

The duration of a cold plunge session can vary depending on individual preferences and tolerance. Generally, it is recommended to start with shorter durations, such as 1-3 minutes, and gradually increase the time as you become more accustomed to the cold. It is important to listen to your body and never push yourself beyond your comfort zone.

How Long Does Shipping Normally Take?

Shipping times vary based on your location, product availability and the shipping method chosen. Each tub and water chiller are custom built for us, so if either product is on backorder it could add an extra 10-15 days to manufacture and deliver it to us for quality inspection. Upon checking out you will be given several different options for carriers and delivery speeds. For items in stock, standard shipping may take anywhere from 5 to 10 business days, while expedited options are available for faster delivery.

How Much Does Shipping Cost?

Shipping fees are based on factors like the shipping destination, weight and the chosen shipping method (standard, priority, express). For your convenience we provide a shipping cost calculator during the checkout process.

Where Are You Located? Where Are Your Products From?

Our office and warehouse are both located in Los Angeles, California. We are proud to share that all products sold on our site are also stocked and shipped locally from California.

What if My Order Arrives Damanged?

While this is highly unlikely thanks to our pre-shipment quality inspection process, please email [email protected] within 72 hours of delivery. If you have pictures of the box and damage caused during transit, you can return and replace the damaged product.

Can I Modify or Cancel My Order After It’s Been Placed?

Once an order is confirmed, modifications or cancellations may not be possible. Contact customer support immediately to inquire about the possibility. Our water chillers and tubs are custom-made by our manufacturer, but if you contact us before the product has been shipped or begun manufacturing we can normally cancel and refund those orders.

What is the size of your IceMax™ At-Home Cold Plunge Tub?

After contacting dozens of manufacturers and testing many different styles and sizes of at-home cold plunge tubs, we came up with the perfect dimensions. At 132cm x 70cm x 62cm, the tub stands at 4.5 ft high, which is slightly taller than most competitor’s tubs and has a larger diameter allowing someone as tall as 6’7” and 275 lbs to sit comfortably (and cold) inside the tub.

How often should I clean my tub and/or water chiller?

If you purchase our water chiller and UV disinfectant system, maintenance includes emptying the filter and cleaning the tub with mild soap ever 4-6 weeks depending on use. Without the water chiller and UV sterilizer, we recommend emptying the tub and cleaning it with mild soap about twice per month – also depending on use. Make sure if storing your tub outside that it’s always closed when not in use and pay attention to water quality. If you notice any discoloration or smell, it’s time to replace the water and scrub that tub! Some customers do use Chlorine to keep the water clean longer, but due to the intensity of Chlorine we advocate for UV sterilization. If using chlorine it’s vital to regularly check the levels and follow the Chlorine manufacturer’s instructions on the amount to be used in 80 gallons (300L) of water.

Is a 1/3hp water chiller powerful enough? Why are others 1/2 or 1 hp?

Absolutely! Our 1/3 HP water chiller is powerful enough to cool and maintain our triple insulated IceMax cold plunge tub at 90 gallons (300L) of water to 37-39°F (3-4°C). This temperature will vary based on several factors outside of our control such as where you keep your tub, amount of time between use and time of year/outdoor temperature.
